New exhibition in Fuengirola

A few days ago, on the Facebook page of Hotel Florida Spa we mentioned that the 8th of March was International Women’s Day. Because of this, the 8th of March was chosen as the opening day for an interesting exhibition in Fuengirola about women.

The exhibition is displayed in Fuengirola’s Town Hall and it includes handmade pieces in clay, pottery, sculptures, bookbinding works, restored books and objects and pieces done with recycled materials.

All works there included have been made by women who attend the evening art related classes organised by the City Council.

The exhibition is totally free and can get visited till Wednesday the 28th of March, so if you are currently staying with us in Fuengirola we recommend you visit it as it will make you see how talented the women of Fuengirola are.

Enjoy arts and crafts in Fuengirola!

Cave art in Ardales

Did you know that in late February the prestigious magazine “Science” published that the paintings found in a cave in Malaga were done 20.000 years before the arrival of our species?

The cave is in Ardales, a beautiful village in inland Malaga, about 43 miles away from Fuengirola, famous for its “Caminito del Rey” (“King’s Pathway”), which we already recommended a while ago here on the blog of Hotel Florida Spa.

This cave was found by chance in 1821 after an earthquake and has over a thousand paintings. These paintings are the oldest in Europe as they were not done by Homo Sapiens but by Neanderthals.

The Cave of Ardales can be visited all year round, from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 A.M., prior reservation by calling (+0034) 952 45 80 46.

Entry price is 10€ for adults and 5€ for childen, but this price not only includes a visit to the cave but also a visit to the History and Tradition Museum of Ardales.

If you are planning to come to Hotel Florida Spa, and you are interested in prehistory, we certainly recommend you visit it as we think you will really enjoy it.

All you need is some comfy shoes and to be a bit of an adventurer.

Make the most of your holiday at Hotel Florida Spa and discover Ardales!

“Snatch” in Malaga

Did you know that right now, and till the 14th of May, the second season of British-American TV series “Snatch” is being shot in different spots in Malaga?

The series is about a peculiar group of British gangsters and it is starred by Rupert Grint, best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter saga. Grint has already been seen shooting scenes in Malaga Marina as well as in the beautiful town of Nerja.

Besides Malaga and Nerja filming in other places of the coast like Marbella, La Caleta de Velez or Rincon de la Victoria is also on the cards.

If you are visiting Hotel Florida Spa soon and planning to explore Costa del Sol, we recommend you to keep your eyes open… who knows, you might see TV cameras around shooting one of the most awaited series of the year.

We are willing to see how the filming went and how beautiful Malaga looks on our TV screens!
