Summer markets in Mijas

If you enjoy visiting markets each time you come on holiday to Costa del Sol you will love to know that the Mijas Council has organised 4 different markets this summer.

One of them is in Mijas Pueblo and the other three are in La Cala de Mijas.

The one in Mijas Pueblo is every Wednesday from 10:00 A.M till 2:00 P.M in the well-known square Plaza Virgen de la Peña.

Regarding the markets in La Cala de Mijas, there is an evening one till the 15th of September every evening from 6:00 P.M till midnight in the promenade.  

In addition to this there is also another evening market every weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) till the 29th of September from 6:00 P.M till midnight opposite the Tourist Office of La Cala.   

Opposite the Tourist Office of La Cala, besides the evening market, there is also a daytime one every Friday from 10:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M.

Marenostrum Fuengirola concerts

Did you know that every summer in Fuengirola there are many amazing concerts by national and international music stars?

The concerts are held in the Marenostrum venue, located right by the beautiful Sohail Castle.

On the 4th of May was the concert of American legend, Bob Dylan, and after this first great event came the one by talented Spanish musician Manuel Carrasco and the one by reggaeton star Daddy Yankee.

If you love rock music from the 13th to the 15th of June it will be the “Rock the Coast” festival, where famous artist like Scorpions or Europe will play.

On the 22nd of June well-known electronic music DJ Carl Cox will play , and on the 3rd of  July it will be the concert of British music legend Rod Stewart.  

The “Rototom Sunsplash” festival, an important reggae event in Spain, is scheduled on the 12th of July.  

On the 20nd of July “Danza Invisible”, one the of most famous Spanish pop groups in the 80s, will play in Marenostrum to commemorate the anniversary of the legendary concert they held in Fuengirola 30 years ago.

On the 27th of July there will be a great fun party as it is the “Back to the 90sconcert in which popular artists from that decade, like Ace of Base or Dr. Alban, will play.   

If you prefer classic music, on the 2nd of August, guitarist Daniel Casares will give a beautiful concert with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga and percussionist Miguel Ortiz.

Indie group Izal will play on the 3rd of August and on the 18th of August it will be the “Brunch in the park” festival, a popular event of electronic music.  

Famous singer Aitana, from TV music talent show, will sing in Fuengirola on the 22nd of August and on the 24th of August it will be the Noche Rosa (“Pink Night”), in which popular Spanish singers from the 80s like Celtas Cortos, Javier Gurruchaga or Toreros Muertos will play.

For the moment, Coti and Efecto Mariposa will be the last ones to play on the 31st of August.

“Arts” Exhibition in Fuengirola

On our last post here on the blog of Hotel Florida Spa we informed you about the lovely art exhibition about Van Gogh that can currently be visited in Malaga.     

Today on our blog we would like to continue talking about art as the Fuengirola Council has organised for the third year in a row a fantastic art exhibition called “Arts”.  

The exhibition is displayed in Museo Ciudad de Fuengirola and it includes pieces of pottery and clay, sculptures, paintings, photos, bookbinding works, restored books, glazed works, engravingsrestored items as well as objects and pieces done with recycled materials.

All works there included have been made by students who attend the evening art related classes organised by the Council.

The exhibition is totally free, itincludes a big number of pieces, can be visited until Sunday the 23rd of June from Tuesday to Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 A.M. from 2:00 P.M. and from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
