Let’s go shopping!

14tammi

Last week here on the blog of Hotel Florida Spa we told you about new year’s resolutions and about how most of us, once the year start, decide to get a bit healthier.

This week our blog is also about something that starts as soon as the festive period ends…the sales!

While in most countries these start the day after Christmas, in Spain sales started last Monday, 7th of January, the day after 3 Wise Men Day.

Fuengirola and Mijas are two of the best towns in Costa del Sol to go shopping as we have many shops in the city centre and lots more in our big shopping centres: Miramar Shopping Centre and Corte Inglés Costa Mijas.

The Miramar Shopping Centre has over 140 leisure and shopping spaces. Some of them belonging to important national and international retailers specialised in fashion, accessories and decoration.

On the other hand Centro Comercial Costa Mijas belongs to famous Spanish department store El Corte Inglés. This is a big shopping mall located in Las Lagunas that offers a big selection of products, from food to technology, jewelry, perfumes and cosmetics as well as important national and international fashion brands.

Both shopping centres open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., and although both are a bit distant to Hotel Florida Spa both are easily accessible thanks to the fantastic bus links we have.

The bus lines that connect Fuengirola to the Miramar Shopping Centre are lines 1,4 and 5 and these buses can be taken very close to our hotel, in Avenida Ramón y Cajal.

As for the buses to Costa Mijas, these are lines M127 and M129 and they depart from Fuengirola bus station.

If you are currently on holiday at Hotel Florida Spa or you are planning to visit us soon we recommend you to make the most of the fantastic sales we currently have in Costa del Sol.

Have fun shopping in Fuengirola!

New year’s resolution: Power walking

07tammi

After a fantastic Christmas during which we have had lots of fun and treats it is time to stop and focus on our New Year’s Resolutions.

Among our resolutions many of us have leading a much healthier life, which implies to eat better and healthier and to do more sports.

We might want to exercise but if we are not fit enough maybe going running or to spending hours at the gym is far too challenging which would mean we could get demotivated and lose interest quite soon.

At any case the best thing to do is to start little by little with light exercises.

Although running is quite trendy nowadays walking is much lighter, and it is also quite good for our health.

When walking becomes training, this is known as Power walking.

When we do power walking our posture, breathing and motion are very important factors.

The best thing is to do non-stop session between 45 and 60-minute-long and do about 5 kilometres and a half at medium-high intensity as this will help us burn around 400 calories.

By simply doing this our respiratory and cardiovascular system will get better and our muscles will tone up.

If right now you are on holiday with us at Hotel Florida Spa, your hotel in Fuengirola, why don’t you make the most of our fantastic weather and amazing promenade and you do a bit of power walking by our beautiful beaches?

Getting fit in Costa del Sol is a delight!

Nativity Scenes in Fuengirola

31joulu

This week on the blog of Hotel Florida Spa, your hotel in Fuengirola, we bring you a very special and Christmassy recommendation.

For the second year in a row the Fuengirola Council has organised an adorable exhibition that includes Nativity scenes made by children from 12 local schools using recycled materials.

The exhibition called “My School Nativity Scene 2“is free to visit from Tuesday to Sunday till the 13th of January, and it is on display in Museo Ciudad de Fuengirola.

In Museo Ciudad de Fuengirola, besides seeing the fun nativity scenes created by children, you will also be able to enjoy a small exhibition that contains different nativity scenes owned by doctor Jose Manuel Garcia Verdugo.

If you are a big fan of Nativity scenes, once you visit Museo Ciudad de Fuengirola, we recommend you go to Plaza de Los Reyes Catolicos, as this is where Fuengirola’s official Nativity Scene is placed for the third year in a row.

Fuengirola’s official nativity scene is in the middle of the square inside a big glass box, so it can be visited any day at any time.

We hope you enjoy Christmas in Fuengirola!
