The Fair of Los Boliches 2019 and the Day of Virgen del Carmen

15heinä

If you have had the fortune of having stayed with us before this time of year you might already know that these last few and upcoming days are very important in Los Boliches.

From Friday the 12th to Tuesday the 16th of July the Fair of Los Boliches is on, so if right now you are on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola, we recommend you visit the fairground as the fair is held there.

Tomorrow, Tuesday the 16th of July is in fact the most important day of this event as it is the day of Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of Los Boliches.

Although this is celebrated by all locals in Los Boliches it is lived in a different and a more intense way.

Tomorrow in fact at 12:00 P.M. there will be a mass in honour of the Virgin in the Church of Los Boliches.

Being a man of the sea is a very hard and risky job, so due to the protection they believe the virgin gives them every 16th of July many of them take her out in procession as a way to express their gratitude.

This procession starts at 8:45 P.M. is considered by many as the most unique and special of the year so if right now you are on holiday at Hotel Florida Spa we recommend you to go to Los Boliches tomorrow evening to see this beautiful procession that ends with the Virgin in the sea surrounded by small boats and fireworks.

Enjoy one of the most awaited events of the year in Fuengirola!

Virgen del Carmen Day

16heinä

If you have had the fortune of having stayed at Hotel Florida Spa this time of year you might already know that today is very important day in Fuengirola.

The Virgen del Carmen festival is celebrated in many coastal towns and village across Spain, and the Costa del Sol is one of the best places to enjoy it.

The history of Virgen del Carmen appears in the Old Testament where it is said that during Pentecost prophet Elias saw the Virgin on a cloud and he then built a temple in Mount Carmelo in her honour.

Virgen del Carmen is now the patroness and protector of sailors, fishermen, scuba divers and even the Spanish Army, so they always ask her to provide good conditions for fishing and protect their boats.

In Fuengirola, the procession of Virgen del Carmen will start this evening at around 20:45 from the Virgen del Carmen Church in Los Boliches. This is considered by many as the most unique and special procession of the year as it ends with the Virgin in the sea surrounded by small boats and fireworks.

If you are in Fuengirola this evening we definitely recommend you not to miss this amazing celebration.

We hope you enjoy one of the most awaited events of the year in Fuengirola!

23rd International Festival of Fuengirola

23huhti

Are you currently having a great holiday with us at Hotel Florida Spa? If that is the case, you can consider yourself lucky as this week that has just started is one of the most important and awaited in Fuengirola.

What makes this week so special is the International Festival of Fuengirola, one of the most popular events in Costa del Sol.

As usual the festival will be hosted at the fairground, and this year it will be on from Friday the 27th of April till Tuesday the 1st of May.

Tuesday the 1st of May is in fact a bank holiday in Spain as it is International Workers Day, so many will surely visit the festival to make the most of its last day.

The International Festival of Fuengirola is one of the most consolidated and successful events in Costa del Sol as this will be its 23rd edition.

Although it has been hosted for many years, there is always something new and exciting about it. This year for example Puerto Rico, South Africa and Ukraine will participate in it for the first time.

The fairground will home a total of 33 countries from across the globe, so this is no doubt the perfect opportunity to discover their local dishes, culture and typical music and dances without leaving Costa del Sol.

While the festival is on, from 1:00 P.M to 4:00 A.M there will be lots of things going on and lots  to do at the fairground, though the most expected day is always Saturday as it is when the traditional parade takes place. This stunning parade will start around 11:30 A.M in Plaza de España (town centre) and will arrive to the fairground at around 1:00 P.M.

Same as in previous editions there will be a free entry International Trade Fair that will contain 41 stalls where you will have the chance to buy food products.

Do not miss the International Festival of Fuengirola! You will surely have a brilliant time!!
