Palm Sunday

19Mar

This Sunday, the 25th of March, is Palm Sunday, so the official start of Holy Week in Spain.

If right now you are on holiday at Hotel Florida Spa, your hotel in Fuengirola, and you fancy experiencing a traditional Spanish Palm Sunday we have good news for you as you will not have to go too far to enjoy it. Although the processions that take place in Malaga city are stunning and better known in Fuengirola we also have some amazing ones.

On Sunday in fact there will be a small procession in Los Boliches. It will start at 10:30 A.M.in El Cautivo Brotherhood Headquarters, located right by the fairground, and it will go pass Avenida Jesús El Cautivo, Calle Concepcion Guidet and Calle Iglesia and it will finish at 11:00 A.M. in Los Boliches Church.

Besides this religious ceremony in Los Boliches, there will be other special events in other 2 churches in town.

In Del Carmen Church, located right in the town centre of Fuengirola by the Town Hall and Bioparc, at 10:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. there will be special Palm Sunday masses.

In San Jose Church, located near Avenida de Mijas, at 12:00 P.M. a stunning procession will start. This procession will go pass the main streets in Fuengirola town centre, included Constitution Square at around 1:45 P.M., and it will finish in its Brotherhood Headquarters around 3:30 P.M.

If you like Spanish traditions we recommend you not to miss these special events, and not to forget your camera… You will certainly have the chance of taking some amazing photos!

Enjoy Holy Week in Costa del Sol!

Aragonese Mass in Fuengirola

09Oct

Many of you who have the fortune of being on holiday at Hotel Florida Spa might already know that Fuengirola is still on a festive mood as our fair is still on and will continue until the 12th of October.

As we explained to those who attended our special activity about the fair on Friday, the Fair of Fuengirola is one of the most important ones in Costa del Sol due to the big amount of visitors it receives and the many special events the City Council organises while it is on.

Some of these events are religious masses. The most important mass, no doubt, is the flamenco mass of the 7th of October, held in Plaza de la Constitucion in honour of Virgen del Rosario.

This is the most important but not the only one as on Thursday the 12th of October, national holiday in Spain, at 11:00 A.M. there will be an Aragonese mass in Fuengirola city centre.

This mass will be held in the Del Carmen Church ( in Parque de España, near the Town Hall) and will be in honour of Virgen del Pilar, patron of Aragon ( Region in Northern Spain).

In Fuengirola there is always lots to do, but during the fair even more so!

Have fun!
